Web design
Form and function
It is important not put too much emphasis on the look of a website at the expense of function. A website which looks good but is difficult or impossible to use is not a good website.
I specialise in:
- sites which are accessible by all current browsers and do not "break" due to being designed with only Internet Explorer in mind
- user-friendly and search-engine optimized sites which do not need extra plug-ins to work properly
- sites which search engines can index — after all, it is in your interest to be found
- sites which download rapidly and don't eat up bandwidth: clients' time and patience can be limited
- sites which can be read by audio browsers for the sight-impaired.
The first point is particularly important. All too often sites are designed for the Internet Explorer, but more and more people are switching to Mozilla or Firefox. An estimated 20 per cent of all internet users no longer use Internet Explorer, which would mean every fifth potential client being unable to access your site.
